Our original Logo Mechanics brand mark was designed late 1999, early 2000 (right around the time we coined the phrase “logo repair“) We’ve played around with the design several times since then but keeping most of the original theme and mechanic graphic intact. Well, it’s time for another change, mostly a minor tweak because the mechanic illustration is still pretty sweet and why fix what isn’t broken. As a point of interest, here’s what the original logo looks like (below.)
The trouble with the logo has always been a weird aspect ratio that drove the design downwards and wasted space on either side of the mechanic. In order to bring the design into a more cohesive configuration, we’ve added a shield treatment which encapsulates the entire logo nicely. We also reverted the typographic back the original setup. As this logo is featured prominently on the cover of our Guide To Logo Formats, we’ve had to start redesign that too (cover shown.)
