Animation project: FireStix
Animation for Buffalo Technology line of FireStix memory boards. When we developed the original logo for FireStix it was a quasi-3D design to begin with. This actually makes turning the logo into 3D more difficult as before we can animate the symbol (as shown here) we have to match it as closely as possible to the original, but in an actual 3D space. You’ll notice that the real 3D and the quasi-3D logo are never together for too long on the screen.
As this line of memory boards were to be marketed as fast (as well as economical) the animation had to illustrate that (a 23 frames per second timeline allows us to move things around rather quickly.) The original animation didn’t loop to the beginning of the sequence, but only to the introduction of the flickering flames. We’ve looped it here for presentation purposes.
The animation was developed in Flash and Swift 3D, features several animation sequences “stitched together” and the animation is converted here to HTML5 for responsive playback on Flash-restricted smartphones and tablets.
