Original charity & non-profit brand logos can be challenging to design. Designs need to be sensitive to sometimes very serious subject matter while still portraying hope and optimism. In the case of children’s charity logos, the issue is even more complex as while it’s often beneficial to include children in the design, we need to be cognizant of the ages portrayed. In the case of Tiny Umbrellas, the concept was pretty straight forward – an organization that helps shield disadvantaged families from the often ruinous costs of children’s health care and insurance.
As the children characters were the driving focus of this logo, it was decided early into the design process that the typography was to be simple, plain and most importantly – legible. To that end we utilized a version of Times Roman, but still experimented with various configurations before settling with a straight forward stacked layout. In terms of color, the palette was always agnostic, so our designers experimented with several combinations before the client settled on a simple black and red.
Type Of Project:
Brand logo design project for Tiny Umbrellas, a non-profit children’s charity that aims to assist disadvantaged children and their families with health insurance & coverage. The logo needed to illustrate the charity’s purpose and feature children of a nondescript age.
The children characters in the Tiny Umbrellas logo were designed in such a way as to be used together or separately as design elements in marketing and promotional material.
