When Colorado based Cherry Creek Elite – a 15,000 sq. ft. athletics and cheerleading training facility – decided to rebrand, they wanted to incorporate a tiger, lion or similar theme into their logo. That’s how preliminary designs were presented, but as the project progressed, the logo became more and more representational and minimalist. Eventually, the only remnant of the cat motif was a abstract claw icon as seen here.
The CCE portion of the design is intended to suggest the frenetic ‘whirlwind’ movements of a cheerleading routine, while spelling out the initials of the organization. This new graphic also doubled as a standalone CCE icon which could be used on the squad’s sweaters and jackets as a cloth patch.
