Restaurant logos - Tradewinds Seafood & Oyster Bar Restaurant.
Behind the Design Scenes: It's not often that the designers at TLF get to flex their illustrative muscles. Many of our design projects take the shape of iconic and/or graphical corporate identities. Then, there's projects that come along that demand a fully illustrative treatment. Case in point - the Tradewinds Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar - who wanted a full blown illustrative logo as their corporate identity. The client wanted restaurant clientele to 'feel the tradewinds' when they looked at the design, and our designers tried their best to make this happen.
The Tradewinds logo features a fairly accurate illustration of a airplane (see Tropical Nights travel for more airplane logos) zooming over a realistically rendered beachscape. The 'hut' was modeled after the actual restaurant (which is decked out in a tropical theme and color scheme). Fully illustrative logos like this are sometimes frowned upon by other designers as being too complex and difficult to reproduce. While this might be technically true, we'd argue that there are times (such as this one) when illustrative logos are the best design option. Some caveats - such treatments require a fairly talented and experienced designer and/or illustrator. On the technical side - the logo must be created in vector format (ie: Adobe Illustrator - see our design software ) set up correctly (in CMYK as opposed to web -friendly RGB). Follow those basic cautions and you'll have no problems with complex illustrations like this one. We should know - - The Logo Factory has made creating illustrative logos an art form
