Dragon logo - Casa Asia Chinese Restaurant.
Behind the Design Scenes: When the owners of Casa Asia contracted The Logo Factory to design their company logo, they were adamant about one thing. They didn't want the typical Chinese Restaurant motif - bamboo imagery or oriental fonts, but were more partial to martial arts themes. Often, an inexperienced designer will default to design cliches (which ARE sometimes appropriate) but a more seasoned designer will generally attempt at least a few unorthodox styles in initial workups (for an example of an effective, yet arguably 'cliche' design of the same theme, see the Woky Talky Chef oriental cooking logo). The owners of Casa Asia envisioned their restaurant as an upscale version of the typical Chinese eatery and wanted their logo to reflect this company philosophy. Our designers began with a font selection and dragon graphic workups, staying miles away from the traditional oriental brush-stroke typography. The text was fine-tuned until it was the version displayed here. At the same time, our design team was throwing around icon ideas, attempting to avoid cliches - until they settled on the idea of a dragon - not the most original idea when it came to a logo for an oriental themed company. So, while the concept may have been cliche - the execution had to be a slightly different take. A cartoon logo was out of the question, so our designers used dragon tattoos as inspiration - developing the icon you see here.
