Magazine logo - Brampton Premier Homes Real Estate Magazine.

Behind the Design Scenes: Over the years, we've had a ton of comments regarding this logo (most of them positive) and this design, created in 1997 for a Brampton real estate magazine, seems to have stood the test of time quite nicely. This is a classic example of a 'shielded' logo - think of the design being a badge - a very versatile way of presenting your firm to the world. A shield has numerous advantages but the practical result is that this logo can be reproduced on pretty well every background imaginable, whether it's a color field, or in the case of the magazine, photos of houses and other real estate properties. This was critical for this particular piece. As the logo was developed for a weekly Brampton real estate magazine, the design was featured on all sorts of backgrounds - mostly photographs of houses and properties. The shield treatment allowed the logo to stand out, even when used in this manner, and regardless of the quality of the image that served as the background. You'll notice the purple and teal color combination in this version (very popular with firms at the time) and the italic font (basically an on-the-shelf type face with heavy customization). The little houses were modeled after real-life townhouses that were being built in a real estate project around the corner from the designer.
