Heart logos - Luv My Baby Electronic Doll.
Behind the Design Scenes: Throughout our design firm's history, we've developed quite a few toy logos, for both the store they're sold at, as well as the toy companies that manufacture them. Luv My Baby was a logo that we designed as part of a complete marketing program for the launch of a new doll; our firm designed the icon you see here, the packaging, brochure designs and sell sheets. TLF creative director Steve Douglas - a fairly seasoned photographer - even took care of the photography aspect, shooting the client's young daughter as the packaging model. Unlike many different forms of logos and icons, who have firm limits to the design latitude allowed, toy companies tend to be much more open to 'wow' logos - most of the artwork featuring these heart logos will be printed as four color process, and in the intensely competitive toy industry, packaging has to practically 'scream' from the toy store shelf. Luv My Baby had several slight caveats. The logo, being for a doll, had to appeal to young girls, hence the heart and pastel colors. As the doll had certain educational functions, it also had to appeal to parents. Finally, the logo had to appear to be fairly upscale - the doll contained some fairly sophisticated electronics, with a matching price tag, and thusly the logo could not look 'cheap' (a fairly vague concept, but we think you'll know what we mean). The notable part of this logo is the embedded background of the design 'shield' featuring pacifiers and teddy bear logos in a pastel color scheme.
