Pizza restuarant logo - Homer's Pizzeria.
Behind the Design Scenes: Homer's Pizza was one of the first in what would turn out to be a long list of pizzeria and restaurant logo design projects tackled by The Logo Factory. Like many other restaurant projects (but unlike earlier, and similar, project Sal's Pizza), the client wanted us to develop a cartoon character design that could be used in a wide range of marketing activities. In order to create such a character, our designers need to create a series of concept sketches before moving into final rendering. In the case of Homer's our design team began working on character vegetables and pizza ingredients before finally settling on a tomato as the character theme. A personality was added, along with cartoon limbs (count the number of fingers). The rest of the logo featured a 'shielded' type treatment - shield logos are particularly advantageous when printing on a wide variety of media - in this case pizza boxes, flyers and restaurant brochures. The original logo concepts called for brighter colors, but the client opted for the more realistic (and muted color scheme you see here).
