Food logo - Great Nut Supply Company.

Behind the Design Scenes: The logo developed for The Great Nut Supply Company is often referred to by new clients - yet it could best be described as a simple illustrative approach rather than a stunningly complex design. For obvious reasons, and as with most corporate logos, the client wanted a visual reference to their product. This initially caused our designers some concern - how to illustrate nuts in an interesting, yet still appealing way, and how to then tie these visuals all together using a font treatment for the company name. A cartoon logo design treatment was ruled out early in the conceptual stages but as the design process wore on, it was decided to utilize a whimsical approach to both imagery and text. Through a series of preliminary sketches and concepts, a trio of 'bouncing nuts' - no jokes please - were illustrated and a hand-manipulated font created. Both portions of the logo featured a warm color scheme (taken from the company's name sake) and a slight texture added to the font. The text portion of the logo was then 'shielded ' in a color field in an attempt to give the letters more depth and 'pop'. As with many of our logo projects that end up as a text/illustrative treatment, the design for Great Nut could be used with, or without, the illustrative portion depending on usage.
