Company logo - Jewelry Store, Jewelers and Importers.
Client: Culture Craze
Design Category: Jewelry Store, Jeweler, Importer
About: Logo design for Culture Craze - a chain of BC based jewelry and 'body mod' stores. Culture Craze also acts as a jewelry importer, searching out hard to find and unorthodox tribal jewelry pieces.
Logo Brief: Culture Craze is certainly not your traditional jewelry store. And the minute a designer sees the term 'body modification' in a design brief, you have to know that the logo being worked up is not for your traditional jeweler store.
Firstly - the client brief. "We are appealing to a funky upbeat crowd. Ages 15-30. Possibly an unusual twist to some universal symbol. We're looking for a 3D design - not one dimensional. The company's legal name is Culture Craze Imports, but if 'imports' is incorporated into the logo it should be minimized if used at all." Then, a little about Culture Craze - "Right now we retail mostly body piercing jewelry and hard to find funky items - e.g.. belly chains, toe rings, glow sticks, crystal, glow in the dark temporary tattoos. ear bananas, ear cuffs, etc. We are following the rage of the ages right now but will change as the trends do so we don't want our logo to portray ourselves as 'just' being jewelry sellers. We're after a design that is fun, funky and open minded. Our original idea was to import things from different cultures around the globe and that will be our long term intent as we grow. Maybe some ancient symbols from different cultures incorporated into the logo design". In order to meet the client mandate our designers worked with so-called 'tribal' imagery with a variety of blends and chrome effects. While it's generally recommended that such special effects be avoided, it such also be pointed out that this design was created as a linear version (available for low resolution reproduction when necessary) long before we added the chromy goodness. Since the design of this logo, Culture Craze has expanded to seven locations, all emblazoned with the mark you see here.
Once we completed the logo design portion of the project, our team went on to develop a wide range of branded material - website home page and internal navigation system shown (above).
