Design Category: Product design, cube, 3D.
About: Logo design for Shaped Reality - company specializing in product design and CAD (Computer Assisted Design) rendering and mockups.
Logo Brief: For this project the client was looking for a logo that encapsulated what it was they did - in this case, product design and CAD product mock-ups. They wanted a logo that was 'cutting-edge', yet free from gimmicks or faddish globes and swooshes. The interesting thing about this logo is not what it is, but rather what it isn't. Our designers didn't actually use 3D rendering software to create this logo (such approaches often create unusable pixel based bitmap images) but rather in vector based Adobe Illustrator. Despite the complexity of the blends, the design remains a two-color work (as illustrated on the stationery below). Setting up a logo like this for spot color reproduction isn't the easiest thing in the world, but the economy of the job makes any additional efforts worthwhile. After the project was completed, our designers had to create a 3D model, so that we could animate the icon in Flash. You can see the logo movies here.

Letterhead design - Shaped Reality stationery design involved using various bits and pieces of the central icon as accents. The rest of the material remained reality clean and simple - the client didn't want too much flair and confusing design elements that risked competing with the icon.
