Airplane logos - Tradewinds Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar.
Client: Tradewinds Seafood Restaurant
Design Category: Airplane, Restaurant, Illustrative
About: A logo design for Tradewinds - a seafood & oyster bar restaurant located in North Carolina.
Logo Brief: This highly illustrative airplane logo shows what TLF designers are capable of when they have a great deal of design latitude. Of course, this kind of logo is not for everybody - the intricate detail may not reproduce well if the logo is used at a small size (unless it is in VERY high resolution) and four color process printing is required whenever this logo is used in color. As a result will be more costly than it's 2-color cousins. Having said that, this logo makes an effective corporate identity for The Tradewinds Seafood and Oyster Bar company, a restaurant based in North Carolina. The logo is used on the typical material, stationery, letterhead design, brochures and of course, menus. It was, however, the signage that dictated how the logo came together. Because of zoning restrictions Tradewinds had to use existing signage sizes or the restaurant would have been without an entrance sign (love them bureaucrats). In order to fulfill this restriction the airplane themed logo had to have a 3:1 aspect ration (vertical to horizontal).
The Logo Brief - "Thinking something incorporating a seaplane with sun and palms would do pretty good for us. Our original thoughts on a logo saw something with a windblown graphic of a beach enclosed with a banner of " Tradewinds " combined with a descriptive banner below with " Seafood and Oyster Co."
"We are primarily a dinner house and do not stress the bar. We need to portray fun and good food without looking like we are primarily a place to get frozen drinks."
