About: Logo design for Small Town Traveler - a bi-monthly newsletter/magazine targeting "the independent adventuresome traveler" with a special interest in small towns..

Logo Brief: The tag line to the Small Town Traveler magazine is "The Insider's Guide to Great American Places". Each magazine issue is filled with detailed information on 3 to 4 small towns in the United States - each with its own unique appeal: architecture, history, recreation, arts, ding and more. The 'Traveler's' stories are written with a strong, opinionated voice, giving the reader an inside look into the profiled towns, and providing all the information needed to "spend a weekend, or a lifetime".

When it came to make a logo for the brand development of The Traveler, the client wanted a design that was 'old-fashioned' but NOT country. The logo designed was to have a 'rustic flavor' similar to the Farmer's Almanac. One idea that was bounced around was a visual of a street of Victorian era houses. All in all the logo was to invoke memoroes of a small town in America. The design also required a linear Black and White for less costly, and low resolution, reproduction.
