About: Logo design for The Ugly Monkey - "The craziest nightclub in Indianapolis!"

Logo Brief: When we were approached to create a logo for The Ugly Monkey nightclub, we though someone was joking. Naturally, they weren't. The Ugly Monkey is an extremely successful bar and nightclub in Indianapolis that features three themed bars and dance rooms under one roof. Not much we can tell you about The Ugly Monkey (our site is G-rated) but from their web site, this seems like one hopping place. And that, was exactly what they wanted their logo to portray.

As a side note, The Ugly Monkey is brought to you by the same folks that brought us the infamous Soupy's Tequila Shack (logo also developed by TLF designers)

After the main logo was developed, the client then wanted to design staff shirts and customer Logo T shirts, including the design below for bouncers and door men. Featuring a 'punched out' version of The Ugly Monkey, the logo was then featured on merchandise that is available for sale at the club. All in all, a nice creative break from the more traditional logos to be found in the corporate world. The Ugly Monkey staff shirts (bouncer and doorman pictured) featured the central character in various situations and states. The Ugly Monkey merchandise can be purchased at the nightclub.
