Wine logo - Smokey Hollow Vineyards & Winery.
Client: Smokey Hollow Vineyards
Design Category: Wine & Winery.
About: Logo design & letterhead for Smokey Hollow - a new vineyard Growing French varieties in Northern Michigan's, Old Mission Peninsula. To be used as corporate identity and on wine bottle label. Smokey Hollow produces Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot wines.
Logo Brief: As this was a new winery and wine logo brand, the client wanted a design that looked established and conservative, but was still bold enough to stand out on a shelf against larger competitors. The wine logo needed to be comfortable on a $100 bottle of the winery's finest, but adaptable enough to be used on letterheads, embroidered goods and other marketing materials. Our designers arrived at a workup that is extremely illustrative in nature, featuring a realistic graphic of the vines themselves. The traditional font treatment and colors capture the conservative nature that was part of the original project brief, while the aspect ratio of the overall image allows it to sit on a label that is wrapped (i.e. around a bottle).

Letterhead design - The Smokey Hollow Vineyards artwork was carried over into 4-color stationery design (see above). Business card featured a front & back print as well as a four color, four-sided bleed. While full color stationery such as this may be cost prohibitive for some, the upscale market for Smokey Hollow's product negated much of the expense concerns.
