About: A logo design for The Vox Underground - a music production division of a mutli-media company (PixelWurx).

Logo Brief: Guess this music logo qualifies for the 'shameless plug' department. In the development of flash animations and movies, sound is often a factor, especially when it comes to music - the material available is often inappropriate or worse, it's been ripped off from some commercial CD and leaves the end user liable for infringement. To that end, we developed a sountrack production arm of our design studio - producing simple loops and more elaborate tracks when called for by our animation efforts. As is usual with anything around the shop, we needed to brand this part of the business with a fairly nifty logo. The logo for Vox Underground was first envisioned as a 'tattoo' - rather than a hi-tech approach. Initial research into available tattoo art found nothing appropriate so it was left to us to develop our own. Featuring a winged heart with flame, the logo also features some nifty font work (see our logo font and typography area for availability). We kept the design down to two colors, but as with most of our packages, worked up variants for different uses:

Black and White Grayscale - using screens of black to produce gray tones, this logo can be used when color is not available, while still maintaining the appearance of 'color'.. [more]

Black and White Linear - this logo format can be used on the lowest resolution reproduction (ie: faxes, checks and newspaper ads). A BW linear version should be the starting point of any logo - while top notch reproduction is nice, it's not always available.. [more]

Linear Reverse Version - your logo may get used on a reverse background (in this case black) or on a variety of colors. For these reason, you'll need a reversible version. Sometimes it's not just a matter of reversing the artwork (especially in the case of silk - screening)
