A logo's animation - PixelWurx New Media logo creation.
Client: PixelWurx New Media.
Design Category: Consulting, Music, Video Production
About: A logo design for Pixelwurx Inc. - Integrated New Media and the subqequent logo's animation. Pixelwurx is a video and music production company.
Logo Brief: The ;pgp creation brief for PixelWurx was simple - it needed to be a 'showcase' logo - one that illustrated both the company, as well as the skills the company were touting. In order to create a design that was representative of the company concept, our designers broke the concepts down to their basic components - a pixel. The pixel was treated as 3D, then vector points were worked in (see our design articles library for a full description of vector points as they relate to to design).

Through a removal process, the vector based version was simplified until the iconic version shown was finalized. The creators of PixelWurx envisioned the studio as a team of exceptionally creative professionals, and wanted this reflected in their logo. To accomplish this, a shield was added (as a homage to soccer - the designer's favorite sport). The logo font, a simple off-the-rack treatment, was kept intentionally plain, so as not to compete with the various design elements of the main logo, as well as to allow the logo to be used in small areas. Red and black - the client's favorite colors - were chosen because, well, they were his favorite colors. Happened to be the colors of his fave soccer team too.

When it came to developing a Flash movie for PixelWurx, we decided to push the envelope just a tad. The result was this Flash opus. The entire interface, and all the subsequent animations ALL consist of various 3D versions of the Pixelwurx logo's animation. Motion blurs, music, 3D animations - it's all here. Alas, due to bandwidth issues of the day (these animations were created in 2002), this version of the site was never launched, so we're showing it here as a companion piece to the soccer inspired logo. Keep in mind that this is still a 'work and progress' and as such, some of the links and buttons may not operate like they should. It should, however, give you an idea what's possible when it comes to a logo's animation. See here for more information on our Flash Animation services.
