About: Custom Logo design project for SwaddleBees - a brand of modern cloth diapers for babies.

Logo Brief: The client wanted to stay away from the traditional, orhadox, business logos previously developed for any diaper related business, service or product. Namely, cutesy babies. In order to standout, the client wanted to develop a custom cartoon character that could be utilized as part of the business brand, as well as used in other advertising avenues. A character design can be more easily registered as a logo trademark - an often overlooked process that helps protect your company identity (see our copycats area for how our identity has been borrowed). Unsing mascots in business logos also allows the client to develop a wide-range of advertising options - the character can be used in a myriad of situations and sales-pitch artwork.

The client was unsure about the mascot for SwaddleBees, so our designers presented several options before settling on an illustrative bumble bee logo (suggested by the company name itself). It was important that the bee not be seen as menacing, so a very 'light' style of illustration was utilized. The bee also ended up wearing the actual product, and illustrated in a way that would lend itself to animation.
