Toy Store Logo

Toy store logos - Sam & Zanzi's elephant and monkey logo.

Client: Sam & Zanzi's Toy Store.
Design Category: Toys, Store, Toy Store, Character Design
About: A logo design for Sam and Zanzi's Toy Shop is an upscale toy store whose theme revolves around two characters - and elephant and monkey affectionately known as Sam and Zanzi. It was left up to The Logo Factory to create the two characters and incorporate them into an appropriate mascot logo design.

Logo Brief: Creating a cartoon or mascot based logo requires the skill of a fairly experienced designer with well-honed illustration skills. Due to the time involved, an illustrative animal logo is generally more expensive* than its iconic and logo font cousins. Having said that, it should also be noted that the benefits of using this kind of logo, especially in the case of a toy store, far outweigh the caveats. On top of their use in the actual logo, characters can be used independently, in a myriad of ways in promotional endeavors from advertising to animations, as the characters can brought to life. The elephant and monkey mascots in this brand workup can be portrayed in various situations and can communicate with the viewer in ways not possible with traditional logos. The Logo Factory uses a similar technique with our Pixel and Vector characters in our technical articles area.

In the case of Sam and Zanzi's the client wanted us to create a monkey (Sam) and an elephant (Zanzi) and the job brief contained this description of what the client wanted - "I imagine Sam and Zanzi playing around an apple tree, Zanzi is trying to catch butterflies with a net, Sam is joyfully running around it".

This is a classic example of an illustrative logo treatment, which despite certain restrictions, is appropriate for the application, a toy store, and the audience - children and their parents.
