I'm generally not too fond of contests with required fees to enter. It's a personal thing, but seems to me that sales of related material (books, etc) using the winning designs as content, should finance whatever costs are involved. It could also be argued that the entry fees are unfair to smaller shops and independents who may not have the available funds to enter in the 'hopes' of winning some publicity. As I mentioned, it's a personal thing, so I'm not tub thumping on a soapbox and mention such gigs when they come up. It's also why I like contests such as your current <a href="http://www.logodesignlove.com/logo-design-love-awards-now-open">Blog Logo Competition</a> - entrants are assured of some publicity, some link love and a little bit of 'Kilroy Was Here' without having to dig into their wallets.
