Timbuktu Photo Studios logo

Steve Douglas on March 26th, 2007

Timbuktu Photo Studio logo - based on a loose interpretation of Raiders of the Lost Ark

This California-based company contracted The Logo Factory a little over a year ago to design a logo for their photography studio. The initial vision that Timbuktu had for their logo was that its focus be on the Timbuktu center of ancient learning – (For those of you who aren’t sure of what Timbuktu is – Timbuktu is situated in the Malian city in Africa and is known as the center of intellect and commerce.) The client had also suggested that the design have an Indiana Jones and old map look to it or, perhaps, even a Banyan tree at sunset – something that could be contrasted through earthy tones. The client had some great ideas and the logo featured although it is great, it is not the logo to which the client signed off on – the logo featured is something that was incorporated in the initially preliminary set that was presented to the client. During the design process, the client decided to take another path – they did not fully pull away from the original ideals that they provided their designer when they submitted the project, rather then took a more simplistic and yet professional route. They choose a logo design that featured a Banyan tree as the icon and their company name (text) beneath the icon – all in earthy tones.
