Talk about a case of Mr. Sheden, meet Mr. Freude.

I tried to like the new London 2012 Olympic Games Logo I really did. I read the propaganda, I watched the movie. I came ‘this close’ to actually digging it, as counter culture, radical and maybe even a little cheeky. I was almost sold. Then, I read this from the Beeb

Epilepsy fears over 2012 footage

A segment of animated footage promoting the 2012 Olympic Games has been removed from the organisers’ website after fears it could trigger epileptic fits. Prof Graham Harding, who developed the test used to measure photo-sensitivity levels in TV material, said it should not be broadcast again. Charity Epilepsy Action said it had received calls from people who had suffered fits after seeing it. Epilepsy Action said the images could affect the 23,000 people in the UK who have photosensitive epilepsy. It said it had even triggered breakthrough seizures where people have a relapse after being seizure-free for a long time. A spokesman for the charity said: “The brand incorporates both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which is ironic as the latter is a showcase for athletes with disabilities.

So, you’re now telling me that the only instance where the logo works causes epileptic seizures?!!

Sweet Jeebus. Could a new logo roll-out go any more wrong…
