The Logo Factor admin window - screen capture

And here’s why we have to moderate your comments on The Factor. The above image represents is a screen grab of the admin panel of our blog and covers a 4 hour window of time, beginning shortly after I packed in late last night. Yep, that’s right – over 300 comment spams (guess I could throw in one of these “!” for good measure). Quick explanation – spammers try to insert their web page links pushing everything from porn, to pharmacueticals, mortage and get-rick-quick schemes. Not interested in taking part of any design discussions, they try to submit spam-laced comments using auto-ack scripts which hammer our server over and over again. Thankfully, we’ve got a pretty robust web host, and decent spam protection, so these comments are generally snagged before they see the light of day. However, this does mean that I generally have to moderate all your comments, so if they don’t appear right away, worry not – I’ll get to them as soon as possible.
