Seen on the UK toobz. A Wickham-based marketing company has launched a competition to find The Ugliest Business Logo in Hampshire with a new, mint, logo up for grabs for the winner. The outfit responsible, Glow Marketing, is using the contest as a way to pitch their philosophy – poor business logos make an organization appear out of touch or scare off potential customers – to would-be clients.

The contest was apparently inspired by Channel 4 hit series Ugly Betty (not sure what that is – been a few years since I was up-to-date on Brit telly and I might be tempted to point out a very similar effort in 2005 by our friends at Logoworks). In any case, Lisa Lavis, Glow’s managing director, says about the contest: ‘We want to transform our winning entry into a simple, powerful design that does justice to the business it represents.’

Closing date for entries is June 29. For details see the entry form at www.glow-marketing.com
