Some of you may remember the kerfluffle about the new Quark (a leading page layout software) logo, released last year, as well as its similarities with other already established marks. Despite protestations to the contrary, the noise (and irony) of a design company’s logo looking like someone else’s mark didn’t die down, so a few months down the road, Quark has quietly introduced yet another new logo (newier, newiest?) – see right bottom. The tub-thumping from the company about their new logo is noticeably absent other than some half-hearted banter on design blogs. Scuttlebutt on most graphic design forums is that the new logo leaves most folks cold (I see a cartoon styled wailing baby). And Quark wonders why rival In Design is getting a leg-up…
