Opinion & RamblingNow, let it not be said that I’m against the generous use of logos. Not at all, and since I run a design studio that specializes in logo design, it would certainly be at odds with my financial future. However, there are times when splattering logos over everything gets on even my nerves, and this one certainly qualifies – according to the UK Daily Mail, the Norfolk Police force are looking at emblazoning their cop cars with the local supermarket’s logo.

Norfolk police are in talks with Sainsbury’s (a UK grocery outlet) and hope to hold talks with other supermarket chains. If negotiations are successful, police cars with the orange Sainsbury’s logo or that of one of the company’s rivals could be on the roads within a year. The corporate sponsorship would help pay for extra patrol cars, officers and facilities. Police forces are permitted to accept gifts, loans and sponsorship up to the equivalent of 1 per cent of their annual budget. The Norfolk force, with an annual budget of £131million, has been criticised for its performance on crime.

Will they be driving around the neighbourhoods more to meet the exposure targets. Country roads and hamlets will be off limits.
