Bags of Cash - The Logo Design Way

The Logo Design Way (needs one of these ‘!’ and a few of these ‘???’). Jeebus on a crutch – though I guess it had to happen sometime. Found this gnarly little webpage on the toobz last night. Start Your Own Logo Design Business or Graphic Design Business. Apparently, “you could be pulling in BIG MONEY designing and selling logos”, simply by following this helpful chap’s suggestions (and buying his book, video and other trinkets all for the ‘call me crazy’ price of thirty five bucks). This self-proclaimed ‘Logo Design Guru‘ goes on to tell us that “you definitely don’t HAVE to be an artist to make it in this field” (who knew) and his math certainly seems to work “If you charge $50 per logo and design just 2 logos a day, you’ve made $100″. Hell, you can even “Work in your pajamas” (though with my hours, that’s probably one of the more attractive aspects of his pitch). If you don’t know web design either, worry not, kind entrepreneur. He’s even going to throw in his own website pages so that you can get started right away. About that pesky art stuff – don’t worry your pretty little head. He displays logos from Google, Pepsi, ebay, Adidas, Ford and Target and opines that they’re really “no bg deal”. And to think that I’ve toiled away for almost thirty years thinking that this logo gig was, well, a pretty big deal.

Now, I’m not one to say “I told you so”, but this is just the kind of nonsense that I wrote about in our Online Logo Design – The McLogo Effect feature a couple of years ago. Funny thing though – I followed one of the links in the ‘testimonials’ section and it led me to an online dating site that bordered on porn (had to explain to the Mrs. that it was all in the name of research). Guess it takes a little while to get a license-to-print-cash logo business off the ground.
