Appreciate your comments. Not sure how you think the TLF logo qualifies as clip art though – it may not be your cup o’ tea, but I designed that little bugger myself back in ’96.

From my prospective.. I think both logoworks and Logocare looks great (including their logos) this is just like a father and son issue.. or lets say Classic and Modern site.. I’ve been a designer all my life and from what i can see is, their just doing the same basic principles of design (Fun & Corporate Logo theme) . plus criticising their logo doesn’t make sense to me because looking at the fact that even this website (logo factory) has 1 font style and clip art on the right.. which we all know what that means.. and about the website.. they all look the same to me logoworks, logocare, logojeez etc.. Because i assume the theme like this fits the business they have and surely works for everyone anyway.

Good point about sites not having their proper own logo Simon. Some of it is surprising. It’s kind of like web design companies that have a nice portfolio but don’t take the time to make their own website look like two dollars.

Anyway this is just a taste of Logoworks’ own medicine. (Bad medicine)

While I agree that this is not the most blatant knock-off, I think it’s pretty obvious that this new site ripped Logoworks – especially the logo (considering Logoworks’ history, I find it somewhat ironic that they are the ones now being knocked off).

On a side note, why is it that a lot of these so-called logo design sites feature the most banal logos as their own logo? Wouldn’t that be similar to a dentist with rotten teeth? Similarly, if these logo mills can’t produce a decent logo for their own businesses, how can anyone trust them to develop logos for clients?

It seems to me that many designers are following somewhat along the lines of the many superfluous technology patent suits we’ve seen lately and getting overly wrapped up in seeing “copies of their work everywhere.” Within the past year I found it amusing to see two major web designers claim rip-offs of their logos which were pretty much copies of doodles that I made during meetings years ago. (I never published them so I can’t join the rip-off chorus.) The truth of the matter is that when one sticks to basic designs for logos or web sites you can always find someone who has done something similar. Neither logo above is particularly unique, neither website above is particularly unique (and I’ve seen thousands). To me both sites are pretty much run-of-the-mill in design and to see one as copying the other is looking for bogeymen and basically a waste time.

In my opinion, if one is looking for design rip-offs something far more concrete should be presented that what is shown here.

On a more positive note if one compares work from the above two sites and those of The Logo Factory, its clear that The Logo Factory has applied the talent and effort to clearly distinguish themselves above the rest of the pack.
