As always David, a pleasure to see your comment = thanks for dropping by.

In terms of the 'reaction' to my original post I will say this - it never ceases to amaze me when people who called themselves 'designers' defend their right to give away their work for free, and - if my e-mail is any measure - with such passion.

Alas, I also think logo contests are here to stay - though that won't keep me from the occasional tub-thump criticizing them.

An enjoyable read, Steve.

Not that I need to say it, but don't worry about those emails telling you to evolve or die. Some people will always go after a supposedly great design for little (if any) payment.

If an uneducated client receives 5 good designs from a batch of 90 entries, the chances of them choosing one of those 5 are minimal. Especially as most logo design contests offer no form of conversation between the client and designer.

I hope the day goes well for you, and thanks for the nice start to mine.
