After four months and a global online campaign that netted 15,000 submissions, Serbian designer Predrag Stakic has been announced as the winner of a design competition to find a logo for human rights.
My opinion on logo design contests notwithstanding, gotta admit this is a pretty nifty logo, designed as part of a contest to design a universal logo for human rights. The logo, entitled “free as a man,” beat out over 15,000 other submissions and earned Stakic 5,000 Euros (about $6,500).

From a technical aspect, the logo is well balanced, and the curves are extremely fluid and precise. The designer is an obvious expert with Illustrator.
From a style standpoint, I appreciate the fact that the graphic is a single piece, making reproduction in a variety of mediums a snap.
From a message standpoint, nothing beats a simple message that effortlessly blends two into one. I could even foresee a campaign where these are printed over the breast area of a shirt, and people place their hands over it, pledging peace and protection for all.
And from a view on colour, blue is the obvious choice as it’s often used in peace-keeping/UN, and represents calm and sky (freedom).
Thank you dear Paul for you sincere comment.
Especially thank you for this beautiful idea of printing the symbol on a heart area of a T-shirt. We could call it “HUMAN RIGHT with HUMAN HEART”, pointing the role of everyone’s individual and personal humane development as truly essential in every way.
It even fits a part of my concept where I managed to make evolve “just another symbol”, a symbol for human rights in this case, into something more personal. The actual “HUMAN IMPRINT” in time…
Both, personal and collective. For a human and for a humankind.
This is what happens when good willing people inspire each other to produce more good and more will.
I am happy that my symbol inspired your idea. I must say I love it, and I hope it will LIVE…
Kind regards
Predrag Stakic
