How's this for a spam 'catch'?Update: A few days ago, I opined that G-mail makes an awesome spam filter. And apparently I’m not the only one. Some more technical information here. Someone else, meanwhile, thinks that while G-mail has been good for this sorta thing, the success rate may be slipping.

Perhaps so. But here’s my ‘proof in the puddin’. Last month’s catch totalled no less that 4,616 unwelcome intrusions into my e-mail box. And as captured spam automatically ‘scrolls off’ every thirty days, that would seem to indicate that on average, I’m getting over four grand in spams per month(!) In terms of ‘false positives’ I couldn’t find one (though another account did nail a few legit e-mails by mistake). All-in-all, not too shabby, and a hat-tip to the folks at Google for such a nifty free service. But while this is all fine-and-dandy, the folks who run the tubes have got to do something about these idiot spammers. Seriously.
