Seen on the toobz: While I’m generally not a big fan of logo design contests, have to admit this one is pretty cool. According to the UK -based Evening Times, Internet giant Google has put the word out that they’re looking for kid-designed images of Glasgow to add to their search engine logo. If you’re a frequent user of Google, you’ll be familiar with the various date-themed versions of the company logo that are featured on the site (you can see some of the various Google holiday logos here). For an upcoming tribute the the famous Scottish city, Google is asking the younguns to come up with an appropriate design that will be featured for a day on the search engine’s web site –

Futuristic images of Glasgow designed by city pupils are being sought by internet site Google. The Doodle for Google contest asks kids to make their mark on the famous online logo. Last year Jamie Scott from Castlemilk won the 4-8 age group for his drawing of national flags and icons fused together to represent Britain. Heather Milby, 13, from Glasgow, who was among 2006′s regional winners, is already working on this year’s challenge.

According to Ed Tech UK

If you attend a school or college in the UK and are between the ages of 4 and 18 you are in with a chance of becoming one of the 300 Regional finalists and going on to win the top prize – you and your family get to head out to Googleplex, California, and your doodle goes live for 24 hours:

Pretty cool stuff. Interested teachers and students can download the info pack here. Ya gotta hurry though – registration deadline is May 31. Doodle entry deadline is July 14.
