Buzz around the toobz about the ‘new’ CIA ‘terror busters’ logo can be found here, here . here and here. Trouble is, the logo’s not new (I originally wrote about this back in March of ‘06) while the logo itself has been around since 2002. Which (horrors) means that in over six years, not one soul at the CIA or DOJ have realized that this is one spectactularly stupid design. And I remain as perplexed as I was when I first discovered the logo in a backwater page of the CIA website (since moved and placed here). What’s remarkable about the design is not that it’s a blatant rip of the old Ghostbusters logo, but that it makes the baddie look comical – hardly the “Threat to End Western Civilization as we Know it.” Rather than being terrorized by the dude in the logo, most would end up laughing at a terrorist that’s been reduced to a Gumby like cartoon, even IF he is carrying what looks like an AK-47.
