Construction design – Meridian Construction Company.
Behind the Design Scenes: The Meridian Construction Group logo is an example of understated elegance, and despite its relative simplicity, remains a favorite example for clients and visiting designers (so much so, that one of the design ‘firms’ offering logo templates. were offering a very similar version on their DIY instant logo site until we had a chat). The client wanted a design that could be used on the side of trucks and heavy industrial equipment (see Powers Construction for an example of using industrial equipment as PART of a logo) as well as professional signage and other ‘less than perfect resolution’ media. That’s not to say the logo had to be ‘boring’ – it’s not – but the execution had to be handled in a way that allowed for the various preplanned uses. Using a sweeping triangle (representing an apex) our designers then ‘dropped out’ the letter ‘M’ – obviously a reference to the company’s brand name. The text portion of the logo was kept equally as simple – and designed as a ‘bug’ that could be discarded, should the icon be used solo. The muted color scheme was kept to spot color as the number of colors was to become an expense issue depending on the application. This logo is incredibly easy to reproduce, and can be converted quite easily into grayscale or black and white versions for FAXs, checks and other low-res media. Similar construction themed logos include Hansen Construction and Foamation Construction Foam.
