Camping & fishing logo – Outdoor Legends Travel & Camping.

Behind the Design Scenes: The Outdoor Legends logo is an example of a graphical approach for the logo of a fish and game business. This logo features the ‘kitchen sink’ of related icons – tent, fishing bobber , geese, bear paw and camp site. Despite the logos complex appearance it remains a well balanced design as well as technically simple for reproduction on a wide range of media. Business logos do not have to be simple to be successful, but complex designs like this require fairly developed design skills to pull off. Planned usage involved vinyl cut signage, so flat colors were a necessity – the print version differed in a small blended portion (the campfire rocks) – more of a designer ‘kilroy was here’ than anything else. The use of drop shadows helps give this logo its three dimensional appearance (as opposed to actual depth – see this example of 3D logo design for more). Immediate use was on marketing brochures, so we also developed a two color version to cut down costs on the initial run.
