Logo repair or logo design.
Starting from scratch or cleaning up what you already have.

The Logo Factory Knowledge BaseWhich should you choose - a logo design project, or a logo repair project? That all depends on the material you have for us to start with, as well as your expectations in terms of revisions, design exploration, etc. If you only have access to a Pixel Based version of your logo, our reproduction choices are severely limited. We cannot enlarge the size of the logo or it will pixelate' -the actual pixels that make up the image will become visible. In real terms your logo will appear 'fuzzy' or out-of-focus. For all practical purposes we cannot change colors, nor can we adapt the logo for many usages (other than web usage or low-resolution printing). Animating a Pixel Based logo is extremely difficult if not impossible (and our choices limited) as we cannot 'break' the logo into various components that we can move around individually. In order to create Vector Based versions of your logo, our designers literally have to 'trace' the artwork by hand, using vector based drawing software (Adobe Illustrator). There are automated solutions, but these are not adequate for truly professional results and even then, the artwork created requires extensive editing to remove redundant points and areas that have not converted correctly. Automated solutions also require a high-resolution (ie: higher than 72 DIP) pixel based image for even the most marginal results. Here's a general overview of what kind of project is suitable for some common scenarios.

A logo design project is appropriate when:
You don't already have a logo, need a new one created and only have a vague or general idea of what direction your logo should take. Accordingly you'll need The Logo Factory (or your designer) to create several design proposals and concepts for your new design. A Logo Design project is also appropriate when you wish to 'explore' the design process with a variety of designs, styles and concepts to choose from. Generally speaking, if you do not have any material from which we can work from (sketches, doodles, digital file formats) and want to start 'from scratch', then a Logo Design project is the best choice. See here for more on our logo design process. Should you require any further information on any of our design services, feel free to contact us.

A logo repair project is appropriate when.
You already have some preliminary material for us to work from, or you already have a logo that requires some touch-up, cleanup or a name change. Keep in mind that Logo Repair Packages are limited in the number of revisions and design edits, so it's fairly important that your supplied material is consistent with the desired finished logo design. Under our complex logo repair package we can also take your sketches and doodles and convert them into print and web ready artwork. Perfect for agencies and studios that have developed concepts and roughs, but don't have designer time to render final artwork. Here are some other scenarios where a Logo Repair Project is appropriate:

Redraw, update or basic changes.
If you already have a logo and wish to have it cleaned up, 'modernized', a name change added, or simply the proper file formats, then a logo repair should suffice. Under most cases, these kinds of alterations can be performed as part of a basic logo repair package.

Artwork cleanup.
If you have low-resolution files of your logo and require high-resolution versions, or you wish to change colors or typography on an old printed version of your design, a Logo Repair is the correct choice for you.

Flash animation.
Due to the technical nature of Flash logo animation, our designers will need a Vector-based version of your logo that they can 'pull apart' into its basic components. These components can then be 'moved around' as part of your animation. If you only have access to a pixel-based version of your logo, we'll need to build a vector-based one.

Vector redraw.
If you have a logo that is in a non-digital format (ie: sketches, illustration or as at left, watercolor) and need your logo to be scalable and adaptable to a wide range of media, you'll require a Logo Repair. In most cases, artwork like this requires a complex logo repair.

Working from your sketches.
In some instances, clients may already have semi-final sketches of their logo ideas. If that's the case, The Logo Factory can 'render' these sketches into final logo artwork with appropriate typography and color schemes. We can then supply you with a full range pf professional file formats, suitable for every application. In most cases, this would require a Complex Logo Repair package.
