The illustration above is the cover of an advertising and sponsorship manual for the Futurecom Exhibit at the Canadian National Exhibition - a national fair held each year in Toronto. The exhibit was designed to celebrate new technology and recent advances in home automation, but rather than go for a futuristic theme, our designers came up with this retro styled design, complete with Flash Gordon typography and styling. The illustration was meant to tie in the CNE with the exhibit (the CNE also features one of the world's largest midways, the seatbelt is a reference to a roller coaster seatbelt). As this illustration is monochromatic, the printing costs were minimal, though the final brochure design ended up with multiple gloss, matte and varnish finishes for a dynamic 'look'. This project was in conjunction with Crunch Inc. Communications and Acrobat Marketing.
