As grim as it may sound, Morgue Files is actually a standard newspaper terms that refers to collections of story clippings, unused photographs (usually from a series), design flats and other files that are kept as a source of research and information. Over the years, the term has morphed into one that is used by photographers, designers and other 'creatives' who are creating material on a regular basis that may never see the 'light of day' due to the nature of the project, client needs, etc. Morgue Files are not design junk, but simply material that is not appropriate for use at the time it was developed. And our loss is your gain..

At The Logo Factory®, we've been creating logos for clients since 1996 and our Morgue Files are extensive - thousands and thousands of great images, designs and artwork. Other companies use their Morgue Files to pass off to unsuspecting clients as 'recycled' artwork, or to populate online do-it-yourself logo generators and web sites consisting of what they refer to as logo templates.

We're not terribly fond of any of these practices. Seems you're paying a lot for a little and none represent a professional method of having your brand developed. To be charitble, these solutions are nothing but clip art logos. Accordingly, The Logo Factory® is releasing some free design samples as Morgue Files through our web site for download (in vector based formats no less) so that you can use to your heart's content (with a few restrictions - see below). Perfect for trying your hand at do it yourself logo design. If a custom logo solution is out of your budget, or you just want to play around with our design 'off casts' as a starting point - why would you pay other design firms for their crappy clip-art, or host an 'iiffy' logo contest when you can download here for free? Our Morgue Files area will be updated and edited from time to time, so please check back often to see if there's anything appropriate for your needs.
