Project: Flash animation logo movie (Advanced Flash).
In order to create a 3D Flash “widget” for a web-based software console, we took the client supplied logo design and placed it on a transparent cube. All the various machine parts were built in Illustrator before being brought into a 3D rendering program. Above and below are 3D logo renders of various frames, output as PNGS for use in traditional media as well as static website use.
Because of Flash’s scalable vector format, the final animation is not as detailed as the images above (though it can be rendered as a Quicktime video format with little loss) but even then, due to its its relative complexity, weighs in a just over 500k. In order to compensate for the large file size, and to create a “streaming” animation, we had to ‘break’ the Flash 3D movie clip into a frame by frame version. This enables the .SWF file to play right away without having to wait for the entire movie to load.
