The most copied design in history of The Logo Factory studio. Breaking down the Euroyacht boat logo
Project notes:
Readers of our main design blog will be familiar with this cute little boat logo for Euroyacht, a European distributor for Sunseeker, Sealine and Fereti cabin cruisers and motor yachts. Over the years it’s been copied, knocked off, and entered into logo design contests so many times, it even has its own page in our Copycats section. In any case, while we’ve been carping about people copying logos, we’ve neglected to tell the design back story to the most copied logo in our studio’s history. Accordingly, here it is…
Simple logos are often the most effective. Case in point – the above design for Euro Yacht. The company wanted to upgrade their image and turned to The Logo Factory for help. Rather than presenting our designers with preconceived ideas, the board of Euro Yacht gave us creative freedom and left the creative work up to TLF logo designers. As the company is the distributor for high-end boats and cruisers, predictable caveats applied (sleek, professional, upscale). The design had to reproduce on a wide range of media, so our designers focused on creating an extremely simple yet effective iconic logo. The graphic, while instantly recognizable, consists of only four graphic shapes while the forced perspective and wave graphics creates the impression of speed. This logo was selected for inclusion in the Logo Lounge 4 book.
