A provocative design for a provocative product line. Hot Mom brings a cheeky sexiness to the clothing market. To brand the line, our designers developed an equally sexy logo.
Client:
Hot Mom Clothing Inc.
About:
A logo design project for a new clothing line, designed by and created for the ‘hot mom’ set. We realize this isn’t your typical corporate logo. But it was designed for an unorthodox company. Founded by a couple residing from California, Hot Mom’s original marketing plan involved retailing their clothes and logo merchandise directly via outlets on beaches and boardwalks, but after encouraging initial success decided to branch out via online marketing, and though distribution to ‘trendy’ clothing stores. While readying their website for launch, the owners decided they needed a new logo, that while remaining ‘cheeky’ and ‘irreverent’ was more graphically sound for advertising purposes. The client was adamant that they didn’t want a typical clothing label, but more of an iconic image that encapsulated the theme, and original concept, of the product line.
Project notes:
As the subject matter may be considered risque by some, and ran the risk of alienating a decent chunk of the market, our designers worked up some silhouette figures and character studies of shapely female forms. Through careful application of negative space, we were able to hint at the naughty bits, while still keeping the potentially hot button logo safely in G rated territory. The figure was coupled with a nice script font, on a hot pink color field for an added flourish. As the design needed to be adaptable for a wide range of uses, from logo T shirts, to logo embroidery the overall artwork was kept simple, bold and graphic. At smaller sizes the accent lines will ‘fill in’, especially at low resolution, but the silhouette will still hold up, and be recognizable as a female figure.
