About: A corporate logo design for a software development company. Located in Warrenton, Virginia, and founded in 1997, Harrington Software Associates, Inc. (HSA) specializes in developing custom business software solutions and multimedia training. HSA’s mission statement involves the development of high quality business products that are delivered on time and within budget.

Logo Brief: Perhaps the most overused design element is that of the swoosh logo (followed closely by the Globe and Swoosh). It has become almost paradoxical – while people are quick to criticize the swoosh, it has become almost a staple of the business technology industry. It is sill fairly common that The Logo Factory clients will request us to create a logo of this type during intial creative brief submission, and our designers will attempt to create a successful inside those parameters. We will, however, attempt to approach the ‘globe and swoosh’ from a new angle, rather than slapping the same old Saturn orbit and Globe on every client’s logo. Such is the case with the Harrington Software Developer Logo – we wanted to use an elegant version of the swoosh, and one that was unique to the company. To complete an elegant ‘look’ to this business logo we utilized a simple modern logo font (Industrial) combined with another san serif accent type – Bank Gothic. The shadow under the icon gives it a sense of environment, as well as the illusion of being an actual object, as opposed to a simple 2D element.
