Logo Brief: The client – One Source Real Estate Inspections – wanted a logo that reflected their business as “professional, a little traditional, but more importantly, unique”. The client was unsure of the logo type (illustrative, iconic) but after discussion with our logo designers, settled on a fairly illustrative treatment of a figure ‘looking under the roof’.

Less experienced artists will stay away from adding a human figure to any graphic logo as it requires a fairly sophisticated designer to incorporate a human figure while still maintaining strong linear design. Generally the figure needs to be converted into simple shapes while still maintaining an accurate depiction in terms of aspect ratios, bodyparts, etc., all of which requires both technical and illustrative prowess. This is particularly true of real estate logos, which are usually featured on simple vinyl cut lawn signs and other low resolution reproductions.

The one caveat to One Source’s logo was that the logo font portion of the logo be unique enough that it could be used without the accompanying graphic while still being memorable and visually dynamic.

Using tones and screens, our artists were able to maintain a two spot color palette which keeps reproduction charges, especially on soft goods like stationery, letterheads and business cards to a minimum.
