About: Logo design for Krakaota Seafood & Game – a themed restaurant offering fresh fish, shrimp and game, prepared exotic foods. Also features a deli and gourmet market.

Logo Brief: Krakatoa (Krakatau) is an famous island volcano along the Indonesian arc, between the islands of Sumatra and Java that erupted in 1883. It has remained the classic Mediterranean icon, complete with the requisite legends, romance and adventure. It was also to be the name, advertising and visual theme of the new restaurant and market combination.

The owners wanted to tie in the Spanish theme of the islands, along with Krakatoa imagery in their new logo, while still remaining true to traditional ‘food’ elements.

The main specialty of both the restaurant and the market is Mediterranean style fish (while still offering game and more traditional dishes), so it was decided that a fish illustration should be the central focal point of the restaurant logo design. Sometimes illustrations of this nature are difficult to pull off (they sometimes end up appearing ‘cartoony’) but our logo designers are voiced in converting images like these to successful logo icons.

The store and restaurant are being designed with interior aesthetics that reflected the 800 time period, so this was also to be taken into consideration in the logos creation.
