About: Logo design for Wee Ones – a pre-school and daycare center.

Logo Brief: Wee Ones is a daycare and pre-school center for children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years old based in Connecticut.

When developing school logos and images for daycare centers, it is imperative that the logo accomplish several things – namely exhibit a theme of warmth and community – especially if the brand is to be used for schools and centers that are specializing in younger children. Older teenagers may demand school logos with more pizzazz, but younger schools and daycare centers are advertising primarily to mothers, so any brand development has to be ratcheted back in the ‘woo-hoo’ appeal. The Wee Ones daycare center looks after a fairly wide range of ages – so our logo designers tried to encompass that in the conceptual phase of the project. We came up with a peas in a pod motif, with a variety of sizes, which seemed to illustrate the 6 week to 12 years age range quite nicely. The peas in a pod graphic also represented the safety and security aspect of the center – critical when marketing to new mothers and fathers. Custom script font was added, along with a serif strapline featuring the center’s motto and business model.
