Logo design & Flash animation project

The concept behind this simple logo for the Cycling Network was based on a bicycle chain wheel in perspective. The setup is adaptable for any color combination and can be used on a wide range of backgrounds.

When animating the Cycling Network logo, our designers decided to take a simple frame-draw approach. Using frame-by-frame masks, we can 'draw out' the icon into a outline version before filling it with solid colors. By using a one frame blurred glow (PNG), we were able to speed up the introduction of the text components without having to rely on Flash's default frame tweening function.

As this animation was to be used on the Cycling Network's website home page, it needed to be fast loading and small in file size. The version above weighs in at just over 50k and is streaming for quick download.
